Forbes Travel Guide (“FTG”), the world-renowned and only global rating system for luxury hotels, restaurants and spas, today unveiled its Verified List for 2019’s World’s Best Hotel Bars, naming The Bar at The Peninsula Manila as one of only 45 bars around the world to earn the accolade.  This comes on the heels of the Forbes Five-Star Awards announcement in February 2019, in which The Peninsula achieved Forbes Five-Star status across all ten of its hotels, resulting in The Peninsula Hotels being the first and only hotel brand to achieve the highest possible FTG rating for all its hotels.

Topnotch TGIFridays bartenders from the Asia-Pacific region will take center stage and outdo each other’s superior bartending skills as the Asia-Pacific Bartending Championship happens in Indonesia on October 21-23 with the the exhilarating and much-awaited Flairtending Competition scheduled on the 23rd. Cocktail glasses will fly and liquor bottles will be tossed like some jugglers’ pins.

Revisiting my Alma Mater, ISCAHM

Inside the kitchen of the International School for Culinary Arts & Hotel Management (ISCAHM), the media guests marveled at how Chef Ernie Babaran can create exquisite cake toppers with pulled sugar. He manipulated the sugar under high heat and produced flowers and multi-colored ribbons. Before taking on the post as ISCAHM’s Director for Pastry & Bakery Arts, Chef Ernie worked in several top hotel chains in the Philippines and abroad. He is known for making the enormous wedding cake of King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein (who was a prince then) and Queen Rania of Jordan. We also watched Chef Norbert Gandler and chef Joey Herrera prepare Pan-Roasted Lapu-Lapu with Spinach Feta Cheese Ravioli.

“Cancer is not a death sentence… It’s very important that the patient must have the will to fight. That’s why we do these talks, it’s very important for us to share with them the medical advances that are taking place,” Dr. Ang shared.
