Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila, in partnership with NordCham Philippines and Philippines Norway Business Council, presents the biggest Crayfish Party in Asia on September 14, 2019 at the Harbor Garden Tent.

 

Take part in a grand Nordic feast set in a Viking-themed coastal village featuring bountiful servings of crayfish and a sumptuous Nordic spread including home-made gravadlax with honey dill mustard sauce, herring and potatoes, Swedish meatballs with gravy and lingonberry jam, sausages, surkål, cod and salmon fillets, and sailor’s stew. Make the most of the festivities by pairing the hearty specialties with free-flowing, ice-cold San Miguel beer and partying out to an ABBA musical tribute by the Silk Band. DJ Yuki continues the celebratory momentum with her playlist of the newest chart-topping tunes to turn up the night. Guests are invited to don their own Viking ensemble to fully enjoy singing, dancing, and playing games in true Nordic fashion.

Dating back to the 16th century during the reign of Swedish King Erik XIV, the tradition of enjoying crayfish became popular in Scandinavia marking the end of summer season with a garden party. Due to a plague in 1907 that nearly wiped out the species, a law has been made to prohibit the fishing of crayfish year-round except during the crayfish season which is limited to a couple of months starting in August.

The Crayfish Party is held for the benefit of Chosen Children Village (CCV), a foundation dedicated towards providing a home environment and care facility for physically and mentally-challenged children. Over the last four years, the event has raised 1.4 million pesos which has been used for the daily operations of the facility and improving the quality of life of the children.

Tickets are available at Php 3,900 per person and at Php 72,000 for a table of 20 pax. After an evening of gastronomic indulgence and festivities, retreat to a relaxing stay at Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila for a weekend getaway with special room rates.
