Let me start this post by saying how much I LOVE mooncakes!!! 🙂 I actually studied making and baking mooncakes, just because I really love these little morsels of goodness.
Shangri-La at the Fort, Manila introduces a modern twist to this traditional Chinese delicacy, by marrying the historical roots with that of current taste and dining trends. Everyone can start enjoying the mooncakes they offer starting September 01, 2017.
For this year’s festival, Canton Road presents a Western take on the classic mooncakes. New flavors include Strawberry Cream Cheese, which was a crowd fave during the media launch.
They also have Black Forest, complete with macerated maraschino cherry in the center of a fudge ganache filling.
Classic flavors include Flaky Pineapple. This is traditionally served on Chinese New Year, but Shangri-La at the Fort made sure to also highlight this as many people actually loves Pineapple Cake. 🙂
Shangri-La at the Fort also features two very classic mooncake flavors, White Lotus with Salted Egg Yolk, and Flaky Red Bean with Pine Nuts. White Lotus with Salted Egg Yolk is my go to mooncake flavor, but their Flaky Red Bean with Pine Nuts is slowly changing my mind into also liking Red Bean. 🙂
Last flavor, but not definitely the least is Chao Zhu Minced Pork. The filling reminds me of that of Shanghai Fried Siopao, but more savory and more robust. One of my personal faves… 🙂
For those who like to plan in advance, guests may have up to 25% savings on all boxes purchased from September 01 to 10, 2017. For bulk orders of 10 boxes and above, pre-order of 48 hours is required (please contact 02 820 0888). Orders may be picked up at the Mooncake booth located at the hotel lobby.
